Digital Defense Audit

Project

Targeted hacking (hacktivism) increases as governments become more authoritarian, yet few nonprofits are equipped to deal with even the everyday hacking that we all experience online. We will:

  • Kickoff (1 Week): Outline the project plan, timeline, and client tasks and deadlines; send work and security practices survey.
  • Investigate Work Processes (2 – 4 Weeks): Conduct group interviews, shadow staff, and review survey results to identify process-related security concerns.
  • Investigate System Settings (2 – 4 Weeks): Evaluate your software systems to ensure that security settings follow best-practices.
  • Compile and Present Findings (1 Week): Create a comprehensive report of all findings and recommendations.
  • Remediate Issues (2 – 4 Weeks): Fix software security issues and work together to update policies.
  • Training and Pressure Testing (2 Weeks): Train staff to recognize social engineering, protect their accounts, and respond to new threats.
